Navy Service Uniform

Good Afternoon Guys!!

Today we are going over the US Navy Service Uniform aka "Peanut Butters" or "Black and Tans" for E-6 and below.


























This uniform is used year round for office type work and some events.  It is basically the equivalent of a civilian business suit.


Standard Uniform Items (Male):

  • Khaki Blouse
  • Black Slacks
  • Garrison Black Cover (Hat) with rank pin
  • Black Dress Shoes
  • Black Dress Socks
  • Underpants
  • Rank Insignia, Collar
  • Ribbons/Pins
  • White Crew Neck Undershirt
Optional/Seasonal Items (per command instruction):
  • Name Tag/ID
  • All Weather Coat
  • Black Leather Gloves
  • Peacoat
  • Scarf
  • Earmuffs
  • Black Umbrella
  • Shirt stays (bungie straps that attach to the bottom of the blouse and loop around the ankles or attach to the dress socks) excellent way to make the blouse look tight and sharp!

    **Remember, these posts are just for us non-military family member's reference.  Your service member learned all of this and then some as part of boot camp but I've always found that it is helpful if I at least have a clue about what he is talking about.  We've also had many occasions where I've had to run uniform parts and pieces to him at work and it saves a lot of time (and headache on both sides) if he doesn't have to spend 10 minutes trying to explain what he needs.**
