One of the biggest benefits for military service in the US is access to the healthcare coverage known as Tricare.

Tricare covers all active duty service members, active duty families (dependents), retired service members and their families.

While Tricare is one of the biggest and most popular military benefits, it is also one of the most confusing.

Tricare comes in many different forms.  First there are three US regions (West, South and North) as well as Tricare Overseas.

Then there are different plans under each region.  These are Tricare Prime, Tricare Prime Remote, Tricare Prime Overseas, Tricare Prime Remote Overseas, Tricare Standard & Extra, Tricare Standard Overseas, Tricare for Life, Tricare Reserve Select, Tricare Retired Reserved, Tricare Young Adult and Tricare US Family Health Plan.  Confused yet?!

Over the next few months, be on the lookout for posts covering the ins and outs of each different plan and region.  We will also be covering other Tricare related topics such as vision, dental, pregnancy, etc.
